Disney Vacation Club has updated its lineup of bonus incentives for buying points direct. Among the options is a $500 Disney Gift Card with sufficient size contract purchase.
Three resorts are currently in active sales through DVC: Aulani, Disney Vacation Club Villas, Copper Creek Villas & Cabins and Disney's Polynesian Villas & Bungalows. All have some sort of promotional discount offered, though the exact value varies for new and current members, and by resort and the number of point purchased.
One of the options available is a $500 Disney Gift Card with a DVC purchase. Other incentives forgo the gift card while providing a larger "developer credit" toward the purchase amount.
The base price for all three resorts is currently $176 per point. Here are some of the cost reductions available to new members by resort:

Incentives are similar for existing DVC owners wishing to add to their membership. However incentives tend to start at lower purchase points (125 points vs. 150/175) and the credits are larger at the lower levels.

The total value of the Developer Credit and credit + gift card options is identical. The Disney Gift Card is to be provided shortly after closing. Note that the gift card offer requires a minimum down payment of at least 20% while the Developer Credit option can be selected with as little as 10% down. Closing costs also apply.
