DVCNews Debates: D23 Announcements

DVCNews Debates

The Parks & Resorts panel at the 2017 D23 Expo seemingly yielded more information than the prior four expos combined.  New attractions for just about every theme park including a Tron coaster at Magic Kingdom, "Ratatouille" and "Guardians of the Galaxy" at Epcot and a Mickey Mouse ride for Disney's Hollywood Studios.  A new DVC resort, a Star Wars resort and a Marvel Resort were revealed.  Marvel attractions, "Pixar Pier" and a Halloween makeover for Cars Land are coming to California.

"I'm so excited
I just can't hide it
I'm about to lose control
and I think I like it!"

-- The Pointer Sisters

That about sums up how I feel about all the changes coming to Disney in the next few years.

The Riviera Resort announcement is grabbing my attention because it is DVC. I'm already trying to imagine what the resort will look like and what the theming will be. I doubt that the imagineers will draw inspiration from a '67 Buick Riviera, but for the moment anything is possible. And for those who know me and my love of deeds and points, I'm already wondering about the resort's point size and when sales might begin.

Can't you imagine metallic peat green as the primary color for the Riviera Resort?

The Tron ride at Magic Kingdom and Mickey & Minnie's Runaway Train ride at Hollywood Studios will definitely make my "must do" list.

Speaking of rides, one of the smaller announcements that came out at the D23 Expo was the Minnie Van Service, which will be offering Point-to-Point pick up and drop off services at Walt Disney World. I'm not sure we will ever use Minnie's service, but I will definitely go out of my way to get a photo of it.

Even my brother, who isn't much of a Disney fan, is excited about the Star Wars hotel announcement. He said if the Star Wars hotel was part of DVC then he might consider buying into DVC. I'm looking forward to reading more about this hotel and what the prices will be for a 3 or 4-night stay.

I have to pick only one? I am not sure I can do it.

Star Wars: Galaxy Edge
Riviera Resort
The Tron Cycles
Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Train
Skyliner

Some of the other things are interesting too but these items, in no specific order are at the top of my list. And did DH mention points and Riviera in the same sentence. :w00t:

I guess the announcements of Riviera & star wars resorts? The space themed restaurant sounds neat. The majority of the rides coming are of the thrill variety, so those are all useless to me:headbrickwall:

I'm very excited about Riviera being DVC. I like the idea of it being so close to Epcot with the new gondola system as the transportation.

A couple of random thoughts about all the announcement that came out of the D23 Expo over the weekend:

Before the D23 Expo started, there were rumors that Epcot would be adding the Brazil Pavilion to the World Showcase. I guess that was one rumor that never made it out of the gate.

Disney announced that it will add not two but three ships to the Disney Cruise Line. Someone on the Disney Cruise Blog said the rumored names of two of the ships will be the Disney Imagination and the Disney Wishes. I don't know whether those names have been confirmed, but they should like pretty good names for Disney ships.

But what will the name be for the third new ship? How about the Disney Animation?
