Tables in Wonderland expands blackout, removes one location

Written by Tim Krasniewski on . Posted in WDW Dining News

The Tables in Wonderland discount dining program will see a number of significant changes in August 2014.

Effective August 1, 2014, Victoria and Albert's at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa will no longer participate in the Tables in Wonderland discount dining program.

Additionally, blackout dates will siginificantly expand for a number of popular dining locations.  Announced blackout dates include:

  • November 23-29, 2014
  • December 21-27, 2014
  • March 8-April 4, 2015
  • May 31-June 20, 2015

The blackout windows listed above apply only to the following restaurants:

  • Le Cellier Steakhouse
  • Akershus Royal Banquet Hall
  • 1900 Park Fare
  • 'Ohana (dinner only)
  • Chef Mickey's
  • Cinderella's Royal Table

Blackout dates are also in place on major holidays including Mother's Day, Easter Sunday, Independence Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve and New Year's Day.  These holiday blackouts apply to all participating dining locations including the list above.

The Tables in Wonderland dining discount card provides a discount of 20% off normal menu prices of most dining locations at Walt Disney World Resort.  The discount is valid for the cardholder and up to 9 guests dining on the same check.  The discount card is available to Disney Vacation Club members and Walt Disney World Annual Passholders for a cost of $100 per year.  Florida residents can purchase Tables in Wonderland for $125 annually.

This is NOT what I signed up for! At the price they charge for the card, I think these limitations are out of line!

Don't like it. Another perk being eroded away until it's practically nothing. This change is just the tip of the iceberg, as I think more restrictions will be imposed each year. I think I really got irritated when I realized that the late May and June dates weren't even around a holiday. That's the dates, when many families travel because the kids are finally out of school and their summer activities, camps and sports haven't begun. We've taken family during these dates for that very reason. Nice one Disney.

Limitations were announced a year in advance so anyone holding a card now should get what they paid for. Reevaluate next year.

They added 60 black out days. That is a major chunk of the year.

I would bet that the individual restaurant managers decide if they will or won't participate in the program so the blame needs to go to the proper people. The best way to get even is simply eat elsewhere.

But regardless of the who, the big picture is still Disney and this is just typical Disney.

Every new program starts out with a bang, offers real value and is slowly eroded, offering less and less for more and more.

Soon, Turkey Legs for $10.00 will be replaced with Chicken Legs for $12.00.

Ok I understand being upset about the blackout dates but it is only for a small handful of restaurants and not even the biggest ones in my mind. But I hadn't added all the days. 60 is a lot
