Today Disney released new concept art for the forthcoming Skyliner transportation system. And we have some new images to share of the construction progress on several aspects of the project.
International Gateway Skyliner station (orange location in map below)
The Disney Skyliner is a new transportation option under construction at Walt Disney World. The system will eventually link two theme parks to as many as nine Disney resorts. The central hub will be located Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort, branching off toward Disney's Art of Animation Resort and Disney's Pop Century Resort to the south. To the north, the Epcot area resorts will all be accessible including Disney's BoardWalk Inn & Villas, Disney's Yacht and Beach Club Resorts, As well as the Walt Disney World Dolphin and Swan Resorts.
The newest Disney Vacation Club property, Disney's Riviera Resort, will also be included on the line.
The system is designed to efficiently move guests from these resorts to both Disney's Hollywood Studios and Epcot.
The two images above depict the current state of the support pole located adjacent to the parking lot for Disney's BoardWalk. This site is circled in RED on the system diagram. Vehicles headed between the International gateway and Riviera Resort will make a turn at this location.
Note the flag perched atop the pole, typically signifying that the structure has been "topped-off" or reached its maximum height.
The station at Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort, circled in YELLOW above, will serve as a master switching location for many guests. In this image, vehicles can be seen arriving from both ends of the building, presumably from Art of Animation/Pop Century in one direction and Riviera Resort in the other direction. A third spur would lead directly to Disney's Hollywood Studios.
At Hollywood Studios, a path has already been cleared through the trees which will eventually serve as the Skyliner cable route. This image depicts the GREEN location on the diagram above.
Finally this last set of images includes concept art for the Hollywood Studios load station along with site prep work currently being conducted on that location (BLUE circle on diagram.) The dropoff point is just east of the park entrance, near the drop-off point frequently used by non-Disney busses, cabs and other public transportation.
No opening date has been provided for the Skyliner opening but expect it to be completed before the debut of Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge in the fall of 2019.
