The arrival and departure locations have recently changed for Downtown Disney boats servicing two Disney Vacation Club resorts.
Disney's Old Key West Resort and Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa both offer boat transportation to the Downtown Disney shopping complex. With three separate boat docks at the massive shopping complex, Disney occasionally makes adjustments to the debarkation points for each boat route.
With the recent route adjustments, the following arrival / departure points are currently in place:
Old Key West: Boats arrive and depart from the West Side dock. Boats depart every 20 minutes.
Saratoga Springs & Treehouse VIllas: Boats arrive and depart from the West Side dock. Service provided every 20 minutes.
Port Orleans: Boats arrive and depart from the Marketplace dock. Service provided every 20 minutes from 10am to 4pm and every 10 minutes from 4pm to 11pm daily.
Internal shuttle boats service all three Downtown Disney docks: Marketplace, Pleasure Island and West Side. This service runs on a 20 minute schedule from 10am to 4pm and every 10 minutes from 4-11pm.
Service ends at 11:30pm daily.
Yet again. They have our money, so they don't care. Port Orleans gets the Marketplace Pier all to themselves and we get to hike from the West End to the Marketplace where most of the action is. Why not do the boats like the buses? Stop at multiple stops. You want off at the West End, you get off the boat there. Going to the Marketplace, wait till the next stop. I get that the DVC resorts are closer to the West End but is PO farther away still. If you are trying to avoid congestion and work on timing of the boats, wouldn't it make more sense to have the OKW and SS boats go to the farthest dock than make the PO passengers have to really spend a lot of time on the boat? Or, have all three resorts dock at both West and Marketplace piers. It's not quite rocket science, but I guess it's close.
Of course, I say this like I stay at any of these places and it matters, but we don't stay at any of them. Oh wait, September 1-8 at THV, so yes, it does matter.
