Jim Lewis lands with Wal-Mart

General DVC News

Former Disney Vacation Club president Jim Lewis has landed a prestigous position with retail chain Wal-Mart.

The Orlando Sentinel reports that Jim Lewis has been named vice president and regional general manager of operations for Wal-Mart in Central Florida.  The post makes him the highest ranking Wal-Mart official in the market, overseeing 95 stores and 30,000 employees.

Lewis lead Disney Vacation Club for nearly 8 years before his ouster in August 2011.  His departure was linked to accounting irregularities in the annual dues calculation for Aulani, Disney Vacation Club Villas.  Disney ultimately increased Aulani dues by 1/3, and agreed to subsidize buyers who purchased before the error was discovered.

According to the Sentinel, Lewis later reached a settlement with Disney and served in a consulting role.  He also began his own consulting firm.
