DVCNews recently updated the article commenting system implemented throughout the site. Please take a few moments to read our overview of the changes.
For many years, DVCNews.com has featured integration between our main blogging site and vBulletin discussion software. While this setup has served us well for nearly a decade, technology never stands still. As support for older web platforms ends--along with necessary security updates--we are forced continually reevaluate the systems we use. In this case, rather than replicate the current setup, we have decided to transition to a more universal discussion system to support reader comments.
Disqus is a discussion platform used by literally hundreds-of-thousands of websites across the world. Instead of creating unique accounts for many individual websites, a single Disqus login can be used to post on every supported site.
Many of our readers undoubtedly have an existing Disqus account which can be used to comment on posts at DVCNews.com. If you don't already have an account, there are links to create an account embedded within the discussion box on every DVCNews post. Click on one of the social media icons (green below) to use existing Facebook or Twitter credentials to create a Disqus account. Or click the "Sign up with Disqus" text (red below) to register directly.
Once enrolled, use the "Login" link (blue above) to enter credentials prior to commenting.
After creating an account, users can view their own Disqus user settings to customize many features including the display name, avatar, notifications, account privacy settings and to keep tabs on their recent discussions.
A summary of all recent reader comments can be found on the DVCNews Disqus page.
Our legacy message board is still available at the "Discussion Forum" link above, however new user registrations are currently disabled. We will have more details about the future of this board at a later date. Creation of a unique user account at DVCNews is no longer necessary. The Disqus login is used for all comment posting and subscription to our email newsletter is available separately via links on the homepage.
Questions or comments may be posted here or contact me directly at this link.
We truly value contributions from our readers and hope many of you will transition to this new platform and continue sharing your opinions and feedback.
