Prices Rise for Annual Passes and Other Ticket Media

WDW Theme Park News

Effective Sunday, February 12, 2017, Walt Disney World raised prices on most single and multi-day theme park passes.  Fortunately for Disney Vacation Club members, the restricted Gold Pass experienced some of the lowest increases.

We all knew this day was coming.  It had been a year since the last price increase on Magic Your Way tickets and more than 16 months for Annual Passes.  Following is a summary of the price changes for discounted annual passes offered to DVC members:

Pass Old Rate   New Rate    Percent Change
DVC Gold Annual Pass - New $549 $559 +1.8%
DVC Gold Annual Pass - Renewal 466 475 +1.9%
DVC Platinum Annual Pass - New 649 679 +4.6%
DVC Platinum Annual Pass - Renewal 549 577 +5.1%
DVC Platinum Plus Annual Pass - New 729 769 +5.5%
DVC Platinum Plus Annual Pass - Renewal 619 653 +5.5%

The Gold Annual Pass is available only to qualifying Disney Vacation Club members and Florida residents.  The pass features unlimited admission to the four Walt Disney World theme parks, with the exception of a series of blockout dates around the Easter (April 8 - 24, 2017) and Christmas (December 18, 2017 to January 2, 2018) holidays.

Prices for the Platinum and Platinum Plus passes reflect a $100 DVC member discount.  Rates above do not include tax.  Pass prices apply to all guests ages 3 and up.

In other ticket news, tiered pricing for single-day park admission remains in place.  Rates for nearly all single day tickets increased by around $5 per day.  The only exception is single-day peak season admission to the Magic Kingdom which remains unchanged at $124 plus tax.

Multi-day Magic Your Way passes have also increased in price.  In a strategic change, access to the "Plus" options which includes Disney waterparks and other recreation can now only be bundled with the Park Hopper option.  In the past, guests could opt to purchase a base ticket which allowed access to one park per day, along with the waterpark & golf option.  Under the new ticketing scheme, the "Park Hopper Plus" feature is only available as a $15 add-on to a Park Hopper ticket.

The Plus options include admission to Disney's Blizzard Beach and Disney's Typhoon Lagoon waterparks, a 9-hole round of golf at Oak Trail, events a ESPN Wide World of Sports (when available) and the new addition of miniature golf before 4pm at either Disney's Winter Summerland or Disney's Fantasia Gardens.
