Site News: New RoomFinder Feature

Site News

Recently we've added several new features to the RoomFinder resort databases that many guests will certainly appreciate.  Oh, and a new milestone is about to be reached by DVCNews.com, too!

As many of you know the RoomFinder resort databases were created to index features, views and other member feedback on all of the DVC resort guest rooms.  Hopefully many members can use this information to better structure requests, get a feel for the resort prior to arrival, and so on.

In recent weeks we've added a few new things to the databases.  First the instructions for searching the RoomFinder have been streamlined.  We have created new Introduction and FAQ pages to offer assistance for those who may be unfamiliar with this type of search.  It is not difficult at all, and don't worry--you can't break anything!

The second major change is a partnership with our long-time friend Howard from website ParkInfo2Go.comParkInfo2Go IntegrationHoward's site was designed to store information on many different theme parks across the country, but in his spare time Howard created actual guest room maps for the Beach Club Villas and Animal Kingdom Villas.  Those maps are now integrated into our RoomFinder.  After completing a search for either BCV or AKV, you can click on the Floor Number to get a pop-up of the appropriate map at ParkInfo2Go.  (See image for illustration.)

By merging these two features you can first search for guest rooms via your own custom criteria and then view the exact location of those rooms on a resort map.

Don't be surprised if this partnership leads to more resort maps being created over time!  And remember that you are welcome to share feedback regarding your own recent DVC stays.  Submission information can be found HERE.

Finally, a quick note to point out that we are on the verge of adding the 2000th registered member to the DVCNews.com Forum.  The forum was a late addition to DVCNews and did not debut until December 2007, so I'm obviously thrilled with the fact that we have garnered so much attention from the DVC community (and prospective members, too!) in just over a year.  Thanks so much for your continued support!
