John Van Meter and the Owner's Locker staff are back from another on-site report from Walt Disney World and other locations in and around Central Florida.
This is an unusual post because it's mostly personal. Our kids have finished the school year and the twins, who are 16, have decided that they want to work this summer. They're driving now so are rather keen to get some cash. So off we went to the Casting Center across from Downtown Disney...
I certainly know what the building looks like on the I-4 side but this was the first time I had seen the front side up close. It's full of incredible details. Have a look at the handles on the front door. They're showing signs of wear but they are not the type of thing you can pick up at Home Depot or Lowe's!
It was so much
fun watching Libby and Jenny fill out their first job applications.
They left two pages on the application for employment history
completely blank! There were openings for deep water lifeguards and
after a swimming test, they were both hired.
Here they are
coming down the ramp at the Casting Center obviously excited that they
have just gotten their first jobs. Jenny is on the left and Libby is on
the right. They go to a Traditions class this Saturday and then they're
both going to work at the Grand Floridian this summer.
If there are any boys out there looking at this, be forewarned that there is now a baseball bat in the purple van and it's never very far from the Grand Floridian.
