Unique purchase incentives still available on DCL

Financial News & Pricing

Special add-on purchase incentives are still being offered to Disney Vacation Club members while aboard a Disney Cruise Line ship.

On the February 15 to 23, 2013, sailing of the Disney Magic, Disney Vacation Development was offering Developer credit and Onboard credits totaling as much as $2,500 to members adding on points for Disney's Animal Kingdom Villas or Aulani, Disney Vacation Club Villas, Ko Olina, Hawai'i.

A $500 Onboard credit was offered to current members who added as few as 50 Animal Kingdom Villas or Aulani points to their membership. Since each resort has a base price of $140 a point, this Onboard credit reduced the per point cost to as low as $130 a point for either DVC resort.

To receive a Developer credit in addition to the $500 Onboard credit, a member had to add on 100 or more Animal Kingdom or Aulani points. The amount of the Developer credit increased as more points were added on.

Members adding at least 100 points for either resort became eligible for a Developer credit of $500 in addition to the $500 Onboard credit.  At 160 points the Developer credit increased to $1,000, resulting in a combined Developer and Onboard credit of $1,500. 220 points netted a Developer credit of $1,500 was added to the Onboard credit of $500. Incentives maxed out at $2,000 Developer credit plus $500 Onboard credit with an add-on of 320 Animal Kingdom Villas or Aulani points.

Although the credits were only available for Animal Kingdom Villas and Aulani, the DVC Guides aboard the Disney Magic mentioned that points might be available for any of the other nine DVC resorts that are "sold out." The number of points and the Use Years available varied depending on the resort, so members were encouraged to speak to a Guide to find out what was currently available at each "sold out" resort.

DCL Member Handouts

In addition to the special incentives for add on purchases, gifts were given to DVC members who sailed on the Disney Magic. A "Welcome Home" DVC Member magnet was placed on each member's cabin door. On the first night, a box was placed in each member's cabin containing DVC lanyards and a coupon that could be redeemed at the onboard DVC kiosk for a limited edition DVC pin showing Mickey as a pirate. All members were invited to a Welcome Home event where more DVC items were handed out, including DVC hats and bags and black leather portfolio.
