With Disney’s Riveria Resort and Disney's Old Key West Resort leading the way in June 2024, sales of Disney Vacation Club points recorded it best month since October 2023.
For the third month in a row, direct sales of DVC points recorded gains over the previous month. In June 2024, 168,636 DVC points were sold for the 12 DVC resorts located at World Disney World and The Villas at Disneyland Hotel. This represents a 10.2% gain over the previous month and a 24.0% gain over what sales averaged over the first five months of 2024.
Ever since Disney moved its marketing focus away from The Villas at Grand Floridian Resort & Spa in October 2023, Riviera has led all resorts in monthly sales. In June, Riviera sold 71,785 points, the fourth consecutive month its sales were in the low seventy thousands. In second place with 60,635 points was Old Key West, DVC’s oldest resort. That is more points than Old Key West sold in all of 2022 and 2023. Given that special sales discounts for Old Key West expired on June 24, 2024, it is unlikely it will be able to repeat its sales sucess in the coming months.
For the second month in a row no deeds were recorded for Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows. The last time a Polynesian deed was recorded by Orange County Comptroller was on April 5, 2024. It appears Disney has suspended Polynesian sales until it begins selling points for the new Island Tower that is scheduled to open on December 17, 2024.
As common in recent months, several large deeds and large point purchases made in the month of June. The largest single deeds were a 1,500-point deed for Old Key West and a 1,000-point deed for The Villas at Disneyland Hotel. The largest multiple deed purchase was 1,050 points split between 500 points for Old Key West and 550 points for The Cabins at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort.
Disney’s Riviera Resort — In June, Riviera sold 71,785 points. The resort has sold over 70,000 points in seven out of the last eight months.
Disney has sold 4,492,559 Riviera points, about 66.7% of the resort’s 6,739,966 total points. If future Riviera sales maintain that pace, it will be about 29 months before the resort is completely sold out.
Two Fixed Week deeds were sold for Riviera in June, both Standard View Deluxe Studio. Disney has sold 123 Fixed Week deeds for the resort with 72 deeds having been sold for the last six weeks of the year.
On May 7, 2024, Disney added 13 vacation homes to the DVC inventory at Disney’s Riviera Resort, increasing the number of declared vacation homes from 256 to 269. There are still 72 vacation homes that have not yet been declared and are still under the control of Disney. The declared inventory accounts for 5,359,939 points, or 79.5% of the resort’s total points.
Villas at Disneyland Hotel — In June, approximately 24,850 points were sold for Disneyland Hotel, the most since February 2024 when 27,423 points were sold. Disney has sold 703,467 points since sales were first recorded in May 2023, about 21.6% of the resort’s estimated 3,255,992 total points.
The number of points sold for the Disneyland Hotel can only be estimated. The data available from the Orange County (California) Clerk-Recorder’s Office is limited and the exact number of points sold cannot be compiled directly; instead, the number of points can only be estimated based on the Transfer Tax paid on each deed.
Cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort — In June 2024 5,351 points were sold for The Cabins at Fort Wilderness, DVC’s newest resort. Disney has now sold 35,502 points for The Cabins, which is about 1.3% of the resort’s estimated 2,780,943 total points.
No Fixed Week deeds were sold for Fort Wilderness in May 2024. To date, six Fixed Week deeds have been sold for the resort.
On April 3, 2024, Disney declared 33 cabins, bringing the number of cabins declared for DVC’s newest resort to 63. DVC members will be able to book using points up to 63 cabins on any given Use Day. There are still another 300 cabins that have not yet been declared. Disney will be able to use these 300 cabins for cash rentals or any other purpose it desires.
The sales data includes all 12 DVC resorts at Walt Disney World, as well as Disney's Vero Beach Resort, and Disney's Hilton Head Island Resort. Point sales data is not available for The Villas at Disney's Grand Californian Hotel. The data is compiled from deeds filed by Disney Vacation Development and recorded with the Orange County (FL) Comptroller, the Indian River County (FL) Clerk of Court, and the Beaufort County (SC) Register of Deeds. Thanks to Chris from dvc.market for assisting in the compilation of the sales data.
