Grand Californian Reopening May 2, 2021

Grand Californian Hotel

The unprecedented closure will result in more than 14 months of downtime for the west coast Disney Vacation Club property.

Villas at Disney's Grand Californian Hotel

Terri Schultz, Senior VP of Disney Vacation Club has provided members with an update regarding the Villas at Disney's Grand Californian Hotel & Spa, confirming plans to reopen the resort on May 2, 2021. This target date comes almost 5 months after a December 6, 2020 reopening was scuttled by more restrictive lockdown measures in the State of California.

Schultz warns that many resort amenities including dining and activities may be unavailable at reopening.

This news comes just days after Anaheim City Council voiced support for a plan that would allow Disney's theme parks to reopen sooner than state COVID-19 guidelines would normally allow. Current guidance would allow theme parks to reopen at 25% capacity only when areas see less than one new COVID case per 100,000 people per day, along with a positivity rate of less than 2%.

Select dining and shopping venues in Downtown Disney and Disney California Adventure are currently open to guests.

Complete statement from DVC is as follows:
