Five years after the debut of Disney's Riviera Resort, nearly 80% of the resort’s vacation homes have been declared for the Disney Vacation Club inventory.
On May 7, 2024, Disney added 13 vacation homes to the DVC inventory at Disney’s Riviera Resort, increasing the number of declared vacation homes from 256 to 269. There are still 72 vacation homes that have not yet been declared and are still under the control of Disney. The new declaration was recorded by the Orange County Comptroller on May 31, 2024.
The 13 newly declared vacation homes are located on the fourth floor on the east side of the resort, the side where Topolino’s Terrace and Primo Piatto quick serve restaurant are located. The new inventory spans five Residential Units containing two Dedicated Studios, one Dedicated One-Bedroom villa, nine Lockoff Two-Bedroom villas, and one Three-Bedroom grand villa. No Dedicated Two-Bedroom villas were included in this declaration. This brings to 269 the number of declared vacation homes at the resort.
Here is a breakdown of all the vacation homes that have been declared for Riviera:
18 of 24 Tower Studios
30 of 38 Dedicated Studios
24 of 29 Dedicated One-Bedroom Villas
115 of 148 Lockoff Two-Bedroom Villas
71 of 90 Dedicated Two-Bedroom Villas
11 of 12 Three-Bedroom grand villas
In terms of points, this latest declaration adds 278,538 DVC points to Riviera’s DVC inventory.
The DVC inventory now contains about 5,359,939 points, or 79.5% of the resort's 6.7 million total points. This means that on any given Use Day DVC members can book about 79.5% of the resort using DVC points. The undeclared inventory remains under the control of Disney Vacation Development, which can use it for cash reservations, as models to show to prospective buyers, or any other reason it chooses.
This is the ninth declaration for Riviera since sales began in March 2019. Here is a list of DVC declarations made for Riviera:
- Initial Declaration 02/15/2019 - 69 vacation homes
- 1st declaration 10/04/2019 - 29 vacation homes
- 2nd declaration 03/16/2020 - 24 vacation homes
- 3rd declaration 01/15/2021 - 24 vacation homes
- 4th declaration 09/29/2021 - 21 vacation homes
- 5th declaration 04/15/2022 - 13 vacation homes
- 6th declaration 09/23/2022 - 19 vacation homes
- 7th declaration 12/16/2022 - 25 vacation homes
- 8th declaration 12/15/2023 - 32 vacation homes
- 9th declaration 05/07/2024 - 13 vacation homes
Disney will likely make one or more declarations for Riviera before the end of this year. When Disney created Riviera’s budget for 2024, it based budget expenditures and income on 293 vacation homes. Since only 269 vacations have been declared to date, we can expect at least 24 more vacation homes to declared for the DVC inventory before the end of this calendar year.
