New Disneyland App Adds Digital Key, Other Services

Grand Californian Hotel

MagicBands may never make their way to the left coast, but Disneyland resort guests have some new digital features to look forward to.

DigitalKey

Disney's Digital Key service debuted at Walt Disney World more than 3 years ago. Now Disneyland hotel guests will be able to enjoy this electronic room entry option. Using the Disneyland Resort app, hotel guests can tap a button on their smartphone while touching the digital pad on the room exterior to unlock the door.

Combined with online check-in and room ready text notifications, this new feature creates a contactless arrival process for guests of the Disneyland hotels including Villas at Disney's Grand Californian Hotel & Spa

The Digital Key feature is not immediately available, but will be introduced "soon" at both the Grand Californian and Disneyland Hotel with Disney's Paradise Pier Hotel to follow at a later date.

Other new app features include mobile payments and a mobile check-out process at select Disneyland shopping locations.

Finally, a new wave of dining locations are now accepting mobile food orders. Among the recent additions are Hungry Bear Restaurant and Harbour Galley in Disneyland and Lucky Fortune Cookery and Pacific Wharf Cafe at Disney California Adventure
