Work has commenced on the sixteenth Disney Vacation Club property.
In October 2018 Disney annouced Reflections - A Disney Lakeside Lodge. The new development will bring 900 hotel rooms and Disney Vacation Club villas to the site of the former River Country waterpark on the shores of Bay Lake.
River Country permanently closed in November 2001 in the wake of the tourism slowdown that followed the September 11 terror attacks.
Commencement Notices for the new resort were filed with the county in February and recently crews began clearing the land in preparation for vertical construction.
Few details have been revealed about Reflections aside from its targeted 2022 opening. Disney Vacation Club senior VP and general manager Terri Schultz described it as " a celebration of Walt Disney's lifelong love and respect for nature, with some fun and even surprising accommodation types that families will find irresistible."
The fifteenth DVC property, Disney's Riviera Resort, is currently under construction with a scheduled opening in fall 2019.
