More points declared for Animal Kingdom Villas

Animal Kingdom Villas

It appears that Disney plans on selling a lot of points for Disney's Animal Kingdom Villas over the next few weeks.  For the second time in just 15 days, Disney Vacation Development declared additional villas for the Disney Vacation Club inventory.

On April 19, 2012, 12 two-bedroom villas representing 195,480 points were declared, matching the same number of villas and points declared on April 4, 2012.  With these latest declarations, DVD has about 900,000 Animal Kingdom Villas points declared but unsold in its inventory.

The additional points inventory is needed to support ongoing sales.  Sales for Animal Kingdom Villas have increased in recent months as Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa and Bay Lake Tower at Disney's Contemporary Resort are no longer being actively marketed.  In March 2012, more Animal Kingdom points were sold -- 85,632  -- than in any month in at least two years.  Sales continue to be strong in April 2012 with over 72,000 points sold through the first half of the month.

Disney Vacation Development has now declared 80.25% of Disney's Animal Kingdom Villas for the DVC membership.  This means that on any given Use Day, members can book up to 80.25% of the resort using points.  There are still 72 two-bedroom villas and eight Grand Villas that are undeclared.  These undeclared villas account for 1,461,920 points.

Two declarations for the resort in one month is highly unusual.  Disney's Animal Kingdom Villas saw only one declaration in all of 2009,  two declarations in 2010 and three declarations in 2011.  Over the same time period DVD made fourteen declarations for Bay Lake Tower at Disney's Contemporary Resort.
