In a move that immediately precedes the start of point sales, Disney Vacation Club has declared the first Island Tower rooms into the condo association for Disney's Polynesian Villas & Bungalows.
On July 31, 2024, Disney filed the 6th amendment to the Polynesian condo association with the Orange County Comptroller, adding the first 40 rooms in Island Tower.
The rooms are located in Residential Units 88A, 88B, 88C, 88D, 88E, 88F. These rooms are spread across floors 1, 2, 3, 7 and 9. The 9th floor is the location of the Two Bedroom Penthouse villas previously revealed by Disney.
A complete breakdown of the rooms added is as follows:
- 9 - Duo Studios
- 14 - Dedicated Studios
- 4 - Dedicated One-Bedrooms
- 10 - Lockout Two-Bedrooms
- 1 - Dedicated Two-Bedroom
- 2 - Two-Bedroom Deluxe
At launch, Disney Vacation Club owners will only have access to book 40 villas--of the above types--using points. Assigned rooms may be located on any floor, but members will not have access to more than 40 rooms on any given Use Day. Additional rooms located in Island Tower will remain in Disney's inventory to sell to cash guests. All Island Tower rooms will gradually be added as sales progress. In all, the tower features 222 villas and 268 keys.
With Island Tower added to the existing Polynesian condo association, owners of points located in the longhouses and bungalows will have equal access to Island Tower accommodations.
Also of interest from the filings: the large openings in the buildings are known as pocket gardens. The are outdoor viewing platforms accessible to resort guests. They may prove to be a popular location to view the nightly Magic Kingdom fireworks, especially for guests with rooms on the monorail-facing side of the resort.
Island Tower is set to open on December 17, 2024. Cash reservations are now being accepted. Disney Vacation Club point sales should begin in the coming weeks, with reservations later opening up to current owners and new buyers.
