Less than 5 months remain until Island Tower at Disney's Polynesian Villas & Bungalows begins welcoming guests.
The eastern wing of Island Tower features 5 stories of guest rooms overlooking the new resort pool.
The new pool continues to take shape, with a hot tub visible on the right and two other elevated structures rising in the pool deck.
The circular bar and restaurant should offer attractive views of the Magic Kingdom across Seven Seas Lagoon.
On the western side of the building, painting continues as other finishes are still being installed. Balcony railings have been installed on some of the upper floors.
Somewhere, Disney Vacation Club executives and Disney Imagineers are laughing at all of us, still trying to figure out the exact purpose of these large cutouts in the building. Also unclear is the role of these smaller corner platforms to the left.
Upper floors would seem to be the logical location of the Two Bedroom Penthouse Villas that Disney previously announced.
Landscaping and other finishes should help the building blend into its surroundings. A reopened walkway connecting the Polynesian to Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa will eventually run along this side of the building.
Island Tower is scheduled to open on December 17, 2024. It will be part of the existing Disney Vacation Club condo association for Disney's Polynesian Villas & Bungalows.
