For nearly 6 months know, we've known that the refurbishment was coming. Back in December, we reported that the Bay Lake Tower refurbishment would begin in late 2024 and last for about a year. Now Disney has confirmed the dates.

The operational update posted to information pages for Bay Lake Tower reads as follows:

From September 2024 to September 2025, room refurbishment work will take place in Bay Lake Tower at Disney's Contemporary Resort. During this time, Guests will see and hear construction work throughout Bay Lake Tower. Please allow extra time for travel as alternate paths may be utilized.

This will be the first hard goods refurbishment of Bay Lake Tower since its opening in 2009. Changes may include updates to floor coverings, wall coverings, linens, furniture and fixtures. Pull-down Murphy Beds have been installed in most Disney Vacation Club resorts, replacing fold-open sleeper sofas. However there has not yet been confirmation that this update is planned for Bay Lake Tower.

In December, Vice President - Resort Operations Alison Armor indicated that a model room had already been renovated, and was being evaluated by staff members as they work through the design approval process.

The refurbishment is expected to proceed one floor at a time. Armor indicated that this project poses some challenges, given the layout of plumbing and other utility lines throughout the structure. Each floor closure will necessitate re-routing utilities in order to maintain service to surrounding floors.

As indicated in the notice above, any resort refurbishment may provide some disruption for guests. Visitors should plan accordingly, avoiding resorts which are being refurbished if it will negatively impact their stay.
